Just In: Court Orders Dss To Pay N200,000 As Damages To Sowore

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday awarded N200,000 damages against the Department of State Security (DSS),for frivolous adjournments on Sowore.

The court ordered the DSS to pay the sum to convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore as damages for frivolous adjournments.

In another news, Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, and former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, are present at the federal high court in Abuja to witness the trial of the former presidential candidate, convener of RevolutionNow Movement.

Soyinka arrived at the court about 8:50 am, five minutes before the respondent arrived at the court.

The former presidential and Olawale Bakare, his co-accused, are standing trial on seven counts of treasonable felony, fraud, cyber-stalking and insulting the president.

He was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on August 3 ahead of a nationwide protest.

He was released after 124 days in custody, but forcibly rearrested at a federal high court in Abuja — less than 24 hours after his release. He was eventually released on December 24, 2019.
