SON Awards Innoson Motors MANCAP Certification (Photos)

Nigeria first indigenous automobile company, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company (IVM), has received the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme, (MANCAP) Certificate from the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON)

MANCAP Certificate which is a certification given to companies that comply with Nigerian industrial standards requirement to promote global competitiveness of Nigerian was presented to the management of Innoson Motors, today, Wednesday 12th February 2020, at Martina Chukwuma Event Hall, Umudim Nnewi, Anambra State.

Welcoming the guests, the Regional Coordinator of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) in the South-East, Engr. Williams Okpeh said that the event was to reward Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company for pursuing excellence in their production process in line with internationally acceptable standards.

According to Engr. Okpeh, Innoson Motors decision to purse MANCAP certification, not only because regulations require it, but because it wants to give assurance to the customers that the brand can compete favourably with any other brand manufacturing outside Nigeria.

Presenting the certificate to the management of Innoson Vehicle, the Director-General and Chief Executive of Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), Osita Aboloma (ESQ) said that the Mandatory Product Certification Scheme (MANCAP) was established to ensure that locally manufactured products provide the required degree of satisfaction to attest that the products conform to standards and has undergone intensive conformity assessment processes.

He noted that the award shows that IVM Company has gone through a rigorous process of inspection and quality assurance and has demonstrated compliances to the standards of the relevant product in producing products that meet consumer expectations and offer value for money.

He, however, reminded the management of Innoson Vehicles that the certificate issued is on loan and will be recalled with the attendant penalty if the conditions attached to the award is violated.

Congratulating Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company, the National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Hajiya Saratus Iya Aliya, who was represented by the National Vice President of the body, Mr. Humphrey Ngonadi, said that the MANCAP certification confirms the capacity of the members of the NACCIMA to meet the required national and international standard.

He reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to continue to work with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing and other manufacturers in the areas of advocacy on ease of doing business, market access, through networking, trade delegation, B2B meetings, facilitating human and physical capacity development through collaborations in Dual Vocational Trainings and Infrastructural development through public-private partnerships (PPP)

On his own part, Nigeria Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, who was represented by the Automotive Desk Officer of the Federal Ministry, Adetoro Samuel, commended the Founder of Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma for ensuring that his company gets the MANCAP certification, he assured that the Federal Government will continue to support local manufacturers with policies that will encourage them and boost the economy.

Speaking also, the Immediate Past Director General and Chief Executive of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Dr. John Odumodu, said that the certification is a big plus for Innoson Vehicle brand, noting that the certification will boost the global competitiveness of the vehicle.

Encouraging Nigerians to patronise the Innoson Vehicles, the Former Senator Representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Nigeria Senate, Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, condemned the attitude of

Nigerians in preferring foreign products to made-in-Nigeria products, frowning at the recent action of the Federal House of Representative who rejected Innoson Vehicles as their official cars.

He described Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma as an achiever who has turned his dreams to reality, saying that Innoson will soon become a global brand.

Expressing his happiness over the certification, one of the Directors in Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, said that the certification which is a recognition of Innoson Motors’ strict adherence to global best practices is something to be proud of. He noted that Innoson Motors will continue to consolidate on their achievements.

Thanking the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), the Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Manufacturing Company, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma (OFR), promised that the company will continue to keep to required standard practices, he urged Nigerians to take ownership of the brand, in order to promote Nigeria’s image.

The event attracted the presence of other personalities including, the President Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Mine and Industry, Mr. Ifeanyi Uzodike, the Director-General of National Automobile Design and Development Council, Aminu Jalani, the Chief of Staff to the Director-General of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Barr. Richard Agu, Anambra State Coordinator of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Engr. Omoniyi O. S, Head of Public Relations, SON, Bola Fashina, President Nnewi Importers Association, Chief Austin Jideofor, Chairman of New Auto-Spare Parts Association (NASPA) Market Nnewi, Hon. Obinna Okechukwu and other notable personalities.
