The Anambra State Community Development Agency, has started the issuance of cheques for commencement of projects in more communities before the rainy season.
The team commence disbursement as they issued cheques to some communities in Ogbaru local government area reports that the projects to be executed in each community were chosen by the communities based on their scale of preference and also to be constructed by them through the fund provided, as the Anambra State Community Development Agency monitors the progress to ensure quality and completion.
The first Community visited by the team was Ugwu-Aniocha which project was the construction of a solar powered borehole given the challenge of portable drinking water in the community and a feeder road leading to their Market.
Amaiyi, which was the next community visited could not access their cheques for commencement of projects; which includes street light and borehole due to challenge of selecting project committee members within the community.
The issuance of cheques in Ogbaru Local Government Area ended at Akili-Ozizor, whose projects includes two additional room and toilet facility at the Primary Health care Centre and road rehabilitation, to which they were presented cheques for the projects.
Speaking during the event, the General Manager of Anambra State Community Development Agency, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu remarked that the essence of the community projects was to assist communities with developmental needs, which is in partnership with World Bank, the state government and the community themselves.
Some community members who spoke during the event, including the President General of Ugwu-Aniocha, Mr. Innocent Udoh and the community Project Committee Chairman, Mr. Nnabuenyi Sage, appreciated the State government through Community Development Agency for bringing development to the community while the President General of Akili-Ozizor Mr Ifeanyi Ossai and the project committee Chairman, Mr. Paul Mbonu appreciated the state government for using the Community Development Agency to bring development to the hinterlands.
The event featured signing of agreement between the communities and Anambra State Community Development Agency team,and presentation of cheques for the projects.
