The story of fallen angels is one we are all familiar with. We all know of angels who apparently fell from grace and from light, into darkness.

Jude 1:6.. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.

Angels who were in the presence of God but are now out of his presence with severe punishment awaiting them, after the great tribulation. However, what we do not know is that these fallen angels didn’t fall at the same time.

The first recorded fallen angel, Lucifer, the one we all call Satan or the devil, is some sort of a symbol for fallen angels. We look at him as the head, the leader, of the fallen angels. This is perhaps due to his fame amongst the fallen angels and his title before he fell.

We should know, that research by some Bible scholars has proven that Lucifer, might not be the most powerful of the fallen angels. Although it doesn’t seem to matter who the most powerful is.

Revelation 12:7-9
7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.

9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

There are powers in this world, powers that affirm the existence of beings beyond the physical, beings controlling the world from beyond. Like the Bible specifically told us, we wrestle not against flesh and blood;

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Though the devil is the most recognized fallen angel, he is not the only one.
When the devil fell from grace, when he fell from heaven, he brought down angels with him. Angels who he started the rebellion with.

We should probably look at this from our little mundane view. In staging a coup, the leader of the coup is not necessarily the strongest, he might just be one who shares a common interest with his followers or perhaps, the most outspoken.

The Bible recorded that the devil fell with his angels, his followers and they became the first set of fallen angels. Nonetheless, they were not the last.

After the fall of the first set of fallen angels, ”man” was evicted from his first estate by the influence of the devil. Civilization continued and the children of men multiplied.

During the time of Enoch, angels who were referred to as ”sons of God” in the book of Enoch were sent down to the earth. They were called the ”watchers”.

In the pages of the book of Enoch, a clear view of the events of the old civilization were given. Enoch, in his scrolls, told the story of the watchers and their fall.

The watchers, according to the book of Enoch, looked down and saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. They then decided to take wives for themselves. They didn’t just take wives for themselves, they had children. Children the Bible recorded to be great warriors of old, these children are popularly known as Nephilims.

Genesis 6:2
The sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.

Not only did these angels interbreed with women, but they also taught them secrets. They taught them sorcerer and the art of war, how to make breastplates and things of war. They corrupted the human race with the knowledge we shouldn’t have.

The acts of the watchers led to the anger of God and the great flood. God however delivered punishment to the most prominent of the watchers, he gave orders to his angels to bind some of them. They begged Enoch to intercede for them but his intercession on their behalf wasn’t accepted.

They became the second set of fallen angels, the Nephilims, from the word nephal which translates to; ”To fall”.
