A coalition of civil society organisations has called for the reconstitution of the 7 man panel members of the Supreme court to review the judgement on Imo State Governorship.

The group under the aegis of Alliance of Civil Society on the Imo Governorship Review Appeal said changing the members of the panel would provide the needed remedy to the miscarriage of justice in the previous judgement.

Speaking on behalf of the group the Vice-Chairman Model Leadership Foundation, Livinus Ibiang on Sunday in Abuja said the coalition is convinced that the new panel would bring an end to the injustice meted out the Imo people.

Ibiang said ” Since that curious judgment, Nigerians from all walks of life, irrespective of political and religious persuasion have voiced concern over that miscarriage of justice.

”Our demands are simple, a new panel should look into the review”.

He explained that the apex court has no basis to declare Hope Uzodinma, elected since his appeal had been dismissed by the court of appeal on the ground of incompetence.

The group added that It is unlawful for the total number of votes cast in an election to exceed the number of accredited voters.

” This Court has the power to overrule itself (and has done so in the past) for it gladly accepts that it is far better to admit an error than to preserve an error.” He said.
