COVID 19: NIPR Suspends Activities On Its Annual Calender

In its usual characteristic manner of applying pro-active measures; Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) suspends all public activities.

Considering that its annual calendar repletes ample crowd-pulling events, this announcement is laudable as a measure to curb the spread of Corona Virus in Nigeria.

As the frontiers of information management, the institute says their measures to put their annual calendar on hold is of utmost essence to keep its members and the entire country safe, and invariably, a clarion call to all other organizations, bodies, institutions, etc. in Nigeria to follow suit and do same to keep the entire country healthy.

In a press release issued on 19th March 2020 the organization put on hold activities on its calendar including but not restricted to:

Induction Programme in Abuja on 27th March, Sam Epelle Memorial lecture, Port Harcourt- 7th April, Annual General Meeting- Bauchi- 15th April

NIPR directs its members to continue to remain hopeful while checking for update as they monitor developments with a view to fix new dates for the programs as soon as the situation permits. It further instructs its state chapters to cancel all activities that will endanger its members.

They call on the government to invest on technical hands and refrain from being political in their approach to this situation as well as deploying strategic communication and information management experts these trying times.
