  • The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday night, confirmed 14 new cases of coronavirus in the country.
    The centre said the 14 new cases of #COVID19 confirmed in Nigeria are: 2 in FCT, 12 in Lagos.

 

  • Two more persons have tested positive for COVID-19, otherwise known as coronavirus in Bauchi State.
    The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro, who disclosed this in a situation update while addressing newsmen in Bauchi, the state capital on Thursday, said the were in close contact with the State Governor, Bala Mohammed, whose case had earlier been confirmed.

 

  •  The United States on Thursday slammed a $15million bounty on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
    Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo made the announcement as the Justice Department unsealed charges against Maduro and associates.

  • A former Ogun State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Bukola Olopade, said he has tested positive for Coronavirus.
    Olopade is the MD of Nilayo Sports Management Company, an organization known for organising marathons in cities across Nigeria, appealed to all Nigerians to take government warnings and precautions on COVID-19 seriously, saying the disease is real.

  •  President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday night, commended unity of purpose in fighting the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria.

He hailed measures, including the willingness for self-isolation, social distancing, and contributions of public spirited individuals and institutions who consistently mobilize resources to supplement efforts of Federal and State governments.

 

  • The publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has claimed the federal government is plotting to rearrest and infect him with coronavirus.
    In a series of tweets on Thursday night, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 election, said he was a wanted man again, following a report he did on President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, had contracted coronavirus.

 

  • The Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general election, Peter Obi, has called on elected public officers to relocate to their constituencies.
    The former Governor of Anambra State said that whilst all possible measures should be deployed to stop the spread of the coronavirus, appropriate measures should be taken to mitigate the suffering of the very vulnerable in our midst.

 

  • Pastor Tunde Bakare, of the Dominion Hall, Citadel Global Community Church, formerly Latter Rain Assembly, has lamented that Nigeria lacks the capacity to contain Coronavirus outbreak on a large scale.
    Bakare, however, urged Nigerians to follow instructions of constituted authorities on the issue of Coronavirus.

* President Muhammadu Buhari is set to release N6.5bn emergency fund for the fight against Coronavirus.
The Buhari-led federal government is expected to release the money to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, according to his Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad via his Twitter handle on Thursday.

* Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has described as ‘misleading’ a report that he was among 26 other Nigerian Governors who have refused to go into self isolation.
Governor Samuel Ortom in statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase maintained that he is healthy and doesn’t need self-isolation.
