Eden Hazard has admitted his first year at Real Madrid was “bad”, but insists he needs to be judged from next season.

“It is an adaptation season. I will be judged in the second. It is up to me to be in good shape next year. I still have four years of contract, I hope to be in good shape.”

Hazard is insistent that he will right his wrongs during his second season in Spain

Hazard swapped Chelsea for the Spanish giants last summer after his mega-money move of €100 million transfer fee.

But the Belgium captain has struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu because of persistent injury with injuries and questions about his fitness.

Hazard goal ratio has been below expectation in all competitions and the management and fans of Real Madrid expects more from the creative player.

The 29-year-old has scored once and provided five assists in 15 appearances in the 2019-20 season.

At present, the Spanish campaign is on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak and Hazard is in isolation.

‘I’m not saying I can’t catch it, but I’m inside the house, nobody’s coming, we can’t see anyone,’ he said.

‘I’m a little scared, like everyone else, but I especially have to be careful not to pass it on to others [if I get it], that is the most delicate thing.

‘We have to take care of ourselves. I am concerned about weaker people, who have more problems.’
