Governor Willie Obiano’s appeal to Ndi Anambra and friends of Anambra state to support the efforts of the state government in preventing the spread of coronavirus, through the donation of cash and medical supplies is yielding positive results.

Secretary to Anambra state government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu announced this while receiving the sum of ten million naira donated to that effect by a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and member of the Economic Advisory Council to President Muhammed Buhari, Professor Charles Soludo.

Appreciating Professor Soludo for the kind gesture as ezigbo onye Anambra on behalf of Governor Willie Obiano, who is also the Chairman of Anambra State COVID-19 Action Committee, Professor Chukwulobelu said, now is the time for Ndi Anambra to close ranks and support the state government’s efforts as it fights this unseen enemy.

While expressing gratitude to all those that have donated money and medical supplies so far, Professor Chukwulobelu appealed for more donations even though there is no case of coronavirus in Anambra state yet.

He said as a responsible government, they are not leaving anything to chance as they have intensified efforts by setting up protection centers at Awka, Nnewi and Onitsh

Anaedoonline.com reported that Governor Obiano recently gave directive that all social gatherings such as markets, burials, weddings, crusades and other events in the state be suspended till further notice in other to prevent the chances of the spread of the virus.

This made the leadership of Ochanja Market Dealers Association, Onitsha, Anambra state said it was ready to comply with the directives by the government on shutting down markets as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

President- General of the association, Mr Nelson Ojukwu, made the disclosure weekend in Onitsha, saying the decision was reached following a meeting he had with the market leaders immediately the directives got to him.
