COVID-19 Lockdown: See List of Temporary Food Stuff Market Opened In Nnewi

As part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, Nnewi North Local Government has set up sites for the sell of food and agricultural produce in selected schools across the local government.

Anaedoonline.com was reliably informed that the markets were set up to provide Nnewi residents access to food supplies during this period of lockdown.

According to the Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government, Rt. Hon. Engr. Prince Chukwudi Orizu, the following schools has been designated as the temporal daily markets, for Otolo Community; Uzoegbo Primary School (Opposite Adadiora Mma Residence), For Uruagu Community; Akwuegbo Primary School.

For Umudim Community; Okongwu Memorial School, and for Nnewichi Community; Oduda Central School.

The local government in conjunction with Anambra State Ministry of Health, has put in place safety guidelines at each of the temporary food and agricultural markets.

Nnewi residence are advised to adhere to safety measures especially social distancing in the temporal markets.

Anaedoonline reported that The Anambra government through its Ministry of Transport has ordered all parks in the state to shut down to help manage the spread of the COVID-19pandemic.

In a letter signed by the Honorable Commissioner For Transport, Christian Madubuko, dated April 9th, 2020, it reads;

” The ministry of Transport wishes to inform all owners and managers of public and private parks in Anambra state that all parks are nearby closed. This is to ensure the containment and spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Please all concerned must adhere to this direction with immediate effect. Anyone who goes contrary to this directive will incur the wrath of the government.”

In view of the above order, an index case of COVID-19 was reported in the state last night.

The patient was a returnee from Lagos as widely shared on social media, also, there is an unconfirmed report that the patient has been in the state before the purported lockdown order by the state government. The closure of the park is timely as it will help reduce communal spread.
