Enugu Discharged Second COVID-19 Patient

The Enugu State Ministry of Health says it has discharged the second patient from Treatment and Isolation for COVID 19.

It will be recalled that the NCDC had announced 2 cases of COVID 19 in Enugu who were in Isolation and receiving care.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, the Commissioner for Health in the state, Prof. Ik. E. Obi State announced that the second patient had been discharged.

Obi had earlier announced on Wednesday that one of the patients had been discharged having tested negative for the virus.

With the latest development, all cases have now been confirmed negative for the Coronavirus and discharged.

“We encourage our people to continue to stay home, try not to touch their face without having washed their hands, maintain strict hand and respiratory hygiene, wear a facemask in line with the NCDC’s advisory and maintain physical distancing” Obi said.

Anaedoonline reported that Enugu resident appealed to the State Government to provide the vulnerable amongst them with palliatives to cushion the effect of Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown imposed in the state.

Some of the residents told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews that the lockdown was the best preventive option, but demanded for what people would eat

Mr Mike Okwu, a resident of Amechi Road, Awkunanaw, said the lockdown had denied many of them means of livelihood as daily income earners.

Okwu added that it was the responsibility of every government to see to the welfare of its citizens, especially the vulnerable ones in the society.

Mr Jude Muoma, another resident, added that if palliatives were not provided to the citizens, some would result to stealing from others.
