Update On The Coronavirus Vaccine

All fingers are crossed as everyone anticipates a coronavirus vaccine or cure. Scientists and vaccinologists are working day and night to produce one.

Of all researches, Oxford seems to be drawing closer than others, while we sit in quarantine, here are some updates to keep you hopeful.

Update 1- Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine works on monkeys

A milestone has been met, the proposed Covid-19 vaccine known as ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 was tested on six rhesus macaque monkeys, and they were subsequently exposed to the virus, 28days later their test results turned negative to SARS-CoV-2. Other monkeys exposed to the same quantity of virus were terribly sickened

Update 2- The testing has begun in humans

It will interest you to note that the vaccine has begun to be tested on human since last week. By the end of May, 6000 people would have been gotten the vaccine, the big question remains; does the Oxford Vaccine Group have the capacity to produce enough vaccines for the whole world?

Or would they make their sample available to other institutions for mass production. Remember, the group earlier claimed they will have a million doses of the vaccine by September 2020 and toward the end of the year. Would that be sufficient? Continue reading to find out

British citizens have expressed doubts about the 100% safety of the vaccine which they described as produced in a rush. Vaccines take 2 to 3 years to produce and the same time to go over trial and error.

The ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 was produced in less than 6 months and is set for trial on humans, worried citizen fear it spells doom for the population.

If the human clinical trials are successful, what is next? The Serum Institute of India (SII) the world’s largest vaccine maker will take it up from there, they have boasted to make available 60 million doses of the Oxford vaccine ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 by October.

These are speculations, however, the facility which is the largest vaccine makers in the world have the capacity to undertake this task. India in two to three weeks will begin the trial of the vaccine in their country as well.

The vaccine is not a cure, there is no known cure for the Coronavirus. As the virus continues to spread like wildfire, health workers, scientists, researchers have all hands on deck to get a cure.

However, getting a vaccine to secure the unaffected is a way to survive this pandemic. We can only obey safety instructions from health practitioners, stay home, and obey government rules, in a while, this too will pass.
