Coronavirus which has been in existence since November last, research revealed, has claimed thousands of lives worldwide and millions affected has been claimed to stay with us for another 2 years.
According to a report by the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota, United States, the virus won”t be controlled until about two-thirds of the world’s population is immune.
The report was written by CIDRAP director Michael Osterholm and medical director Kristen Moore, Tulane University public health historian John Barry, and Marc Lipsitch, an epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health.

The experts said due to its long incubation period, more asymptomatic spread, and a higher reproductive number (R0), COVID-19 appears to spread more easily than flu.
“A higher R0 means more people will need to get infected and become immune before the pandemic can end.”
Following these facts, the report projected that the pandemic would l likely last 18 to 24 months.
“It is likely won’t be halted until 60% to 70% of the population is immune.”
Recall that the World Health Organization (WHO) had also warned that the “virus will be with us for a long time.”
