The German parliament has passed a law banning all forms of gay conversion therapies that tries to change the sexual orientation of young people nationwide.

As approved by the cabinet, violators of the new gay law could spend one year in prison, or a €30,000 ($32,535; £26,268) fine.

The new law stipulates that minors are banned from partaking in medical interventions that alters their sexual orientation or gender identity.
