An infographic report released by the Lagos State Ministry of Health has shown that most of the people who tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state were between the ages of 30 and 39.

The report also showed that those between the age bracket of 40 and 49 were the second worst hit by the virus.

With 1,667 cases as of Friday, May 8, Lagos remains the epicentre of coronavirus in Nigeria.

Out of this number, about 1050 are active cases while 406 patients had been discharged. Total fatalities in the state stood at 33 as of Friday night.

The ministry did not explain why the ages of 30-39 were more affected, but the Lagos Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, had last month attributed the high recovery rate in the state to the ages of people affected by the virus.

The state’s ministry of health had also released a report that showed that most of the coronavirus cases recorded in the state were from the Lagos Mainland.

The ministry said the age distribution of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state were as follows:

0 to 9 years: 13
10 to 19 years: 34
20 to 29 years: 135
30 to 39 years: 225
