Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has lost his special assistant on electronic media, Simeon Nwakaudu.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, said in a statement that Mr Nwakaudu died on Sunday at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) after a brief illness.

According to Nsirim, Gov. Wike expressed shock over the sudden death of Nwakaudu.

The governor described late Nwakaudu as a loyal and dedicated professional, who contributed immensely to the implementation of ‘The NEW Rivers Vision’.

“The governor, on behalf of his family, the government and good people of the state condoled with the bereaved family. He prayed to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss.’’

Late Nwakaudu died on Sunday at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), after a brief illness. His death was received with sadness and shock by a cross-section of journalists in the state.

Mr. Ruskin Amadi, a senior journalist in Rivers lament the death of Nwakaudu.

“Oh; it’s a pity; life is truly a brief candle as captured in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. I sympathize with the Nwakaudu family,’’ Amadi said.

Mr. Ignatius Chukwu, another senior journalist with BusinessDay, remarked that “the children are still very young; chai ’’.

Also, Mr. Dianabasi Effiong, the South-South Zonal Manager of NAN, described Nwakaudu’s dearth as “shocking and unexpected ’’.

Others, who were equally shocked by his demise, prayed that the Almighty God comforted those that the late Nwakadu left behind.
