Eid-el-Fitri: PDP Ask Muslims To Pray For Good Leaders In Nigeria

The celebration of Eid-el-Fitri which marks the end of the 30-day Ramadan fasting period by Muslim faithfuls has greeted several Nigerians at their residence amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Speaking on what needs to be done during the Eid-el-Fitr traditional festival for all Muslims, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, urged those in leadership positions to commit themselves to transparency and urged Nigerians to seek God’s remedy for failed leadership.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, the party urged all compatriots to exhibit the virtues imbibed during the Ramadan fast in all aspects of life.

The statement read in part, “The PDP urges Nigerians, particularly leaders at all levels, not to lose sight of the essence of the Eid-el-fitr and the eternal lessons of Ramadan, but bring them to bear by living in truth, selflessness, tolerance, forbearance, honesty and transparency in all their dealings.”

Meanwhile a former Vice President and presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has enjoined the Muslim Ummah to see the COVID-19 pandemic as a test from Allah just as he urged all to continue to abide by the regulations issued by health authorities.

Atiku’s Eid-el-Fitr message, which was issued by his media office, read in part, “We fasted this year without spiritual acts of worship that accompany the holy month of Ramadan, like attending tafsir (evening sermons before breaking of fast), sharing of iftar with family, friends and the needy, and even the voluntary seclusion during the last 10 days of the blessed Ramadan.

The is just as the National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, urged Nigerians, especially the Muslim Ummah, to use the period of Eid-el-Fitri to pray God to rescue the country from failed leadership.

In a statement signed by his media adviser, Ike Abonyi, in Abuja, on Saturday, Secondus said, “The five years of the APC administration has set the country dangerously backward and only deep supplications in solemn times like this can make us see the face of the creator.
