Just In: See What CBN Said About ‘N2000 & N5000’ Notes In Circulation

Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has reacted to the ongoing circulation of pictures and videos of new N2,000 and N5,000 banknotes in the country.

During the weekend, there were rumours that some persons were in possession of such bank notes.

However, the CBN through its official Twitter page, said the videos and pictures were fake.

“Order The Arrest Of Odumeje Now” – HURIWA To CBN

The CBN further directed the public to report anyone found in possession of such banknotes to law enforcement agencies.

“Members of the public are advised to disregard such falsehood and to report anyone found in possession of such banknotes to the law enforcement agencies,” it added.

However, in another news, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria governor (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to order the arrest of the controversial Onitsha based prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere also known as Odumeje.

NDIC Warns Public Against Patronising Wonder Banks

HURIWA wants Odumeje arrested for his serial abuses of the Nigerian naira and other denominations during his public ceremonies in Onitsha.

The National Coordinator Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director, Zainab Yusuf on Sunday in a statement said it had resolved to write officially to the Minister of Finance, CBN governor and President Muhammadu Buhari to implore them to defend the naira against global defacing of the naira notes.
