One of the suspects linked to the rape and murder of Uwaila Omozuwa has been arrested by police officers attached to the Edo state police command.

Recall that the 22-year-old 100-level student of the University of Benin, Edo State was raped and killed while reading in a church in Benin city as reported by Anaedoonline.

Spokesman of Edo police command, Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the arrest while speaking to newsmen.

He said the suspect was arrested after the deceased was rushed to the hospital and the fingerprint on the fire extinguisher she was attacked with was examined.

Nwabuzor said the suspect was apprehended after the Area Commander of Ikpoba Hill mobilized his men to take action.

In another story, an Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, on Monday, ordered that a security man, Gideon Sunday who allegedly Raped a nine-year-old girl be remanded in police custody. Sunday was arraigned on a one-count charge of abuse/rape of a minor.

The Judge, Sani Umar granted the application made by the prosecuting counsel, Akaso Sunday not to grant bail to the defendant. Umar ordered that the defendant be remanded under police custody for one week.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel Sunday told the court that on May 12, 2020, one Grace Abitayo reported the rape case at the police station.
