Former Beauty queen, Ibidun Ajayi Ighodalo, has died at the age of 40.

She died in a hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on Sunday, June 14. The former Miss Lux reportedly died of Cardiac Arrest.

She is survived by her husband, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, the head pastor of Trinity House church, and their two adopted children, Keke and Zenan.

Her husband’s church shared a black image on their IG page on Sunday morning.

When Ibidunni Ighodalo posted a lovely video of herself and her husband, many people did not know it will be her last post on Instagram.

In the video, the mother of two was seen clinging to her husband and playing with him.

She captioned it:

“Always so hard to say goodbye to my Popino. Love you too much baby….See you soon…my baby and i, i love to give him wahala, popino, the ighodalos”

Ibidun Ajayi, first hit fame when she won the Miss Lux beauty pageant competition as an 18-year-old undergraduate of the University of Lagos.

She married Pastor Ighodalo in 2007. The union was a controversial one as Pastor Ighodalo, then of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Christ Church Parish, Gbagada, had divorced his first wife Lucy-Ann Suinner. The church was said not to be happy with the situation and sacked him.

He went on to start his church called Trinity House.

She was the chief executive officer of Elizabeth R, an upscale event planning company and had been travelling around the country building COVID19 centres.

She also founded the Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation, a non-profit organisation created to raise awareness on issues pertaining to infertility and to provide grants for couples that require fertility treatments such as In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and Intrauterine Insemination.

It was her struggle with infertility that led her to start the foundation. In a 2018 interview, Ighodalo revealed that she underwent IVF 11 times due to pressure from in-laws and friends before deciding to adopt her daughter Keke.

The husband’s reaction after her death

Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, the husband of late Ibidun Ajayi-Ighodalo, said he received the news of his wife’s death at about 2 am today June 14. He said the news shattered his life.

He made this known while officiating at the funeral of Biola Okoya’s son, Deji, on Sunday morning. The pastor spoke about life and how fickle it is. He added that if anyone had told him that ”this is how today would be, he would have said it is not possible.
