Cultists terrorizing Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital and its environs over a supremacy battle were again on rampage Monday night killing three people and injuring five others.

Icelanders, Greenlanders, Debam and Bobos cult groups in Bayelsa have been involved in a supremacy battle in the last few weeks.

Findings indicated that the suspected members of the Icelanders cult group acting on a tip- off that a member of a rival cult group was in the bar ,drinking stormed the place in a trycicle ( Keke- NAPEP )and opened fire on their target and others sitting around him.

A witness who spoke on the condition of annonimity for fear of being attacked by the cultists,said the cultists not satisfied with the damage done, started shooting at any person on sight and some innocent people were hit by pellets.

The witness said that the arrival of Police operatives from the State police Command; some officials of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service and State Volunteer, forced the cultists to escape through the Edepie/Tombia road.

Anaedoonline.com reported that residents of Amaokpala community in Orumba North local government area of Anambra state are still counting loses following a recent bloody cult war that claimed lives of three indigenes and left others injured.

The three Amaokpala youths that were shot dead during the bloody cult clash that rocked the community on May 16, 2020, include Ifeanyi Nwafor, Chidozie Nwafor and Cyril Ogbonnaya Ozoemena.

According to reports gathered, tension remained high in the community over unending cult clashes and failure to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of the bloody violence in the area.

Callistus Obunike Okonkwo, a vigilante member, who escaped death during the cult war, recalled the event that almost sent him to his early graves.

“I was shot during a gun duel that claimed three indigenes of Umudike village, Amaokpala, in Orumba North local government area of Anambra state. Luckily for me, I survived after many days in the hospital”.

Okonkwo said since the incident took place, he has not been able to fend for his family as he could barely walk, recalling how the community helped offset his medical bills at St. Michael the Archangel Hospital, Oko, from where he was discharged on May 20.
