Recently a video on how to use some ‘special package’ concoctions and products to ‘trap men’ went viral on social media. These products and concoctions were peddled by one Omashola Empire.

According to her, these mixtures have the special abilities to give any lady her desired man, even if he is not willing to bulge. Products like Pussy Fire Pro, Vjay Upgrade, Supreme Attraction Perfume, Supreme Money Caller, Attraction Oil, Gold Blue Eye Set, Supreme Blue Eye, and others with weird names.

This is not the first time we have heard about these kinds of magical charms designed to make unsuspecting victims, especially men, follow ladies when they are under the influence of spells.

A popular Instagram celebrity who goes by the name, Jaruma Empire, also peddles these products that promise ladies the powers to attract their dream men. Sadly, many ladies are sharing their testimonies on social media ,how they attracted their desired men by using these ‘Kayamata’ products. This is what our society has degenerated into, where some ladies who want to get the best men by using Kayamata, not by building desirable characters.

These stories show the symptoms of a sick society that needs healing and restoration because politicians are also culprits in the quest to use supernatural forces to get what they want. Reports are rife about politicians that shed and blood, kidnap, maim and sacrifice innocent citizens in the quest for political powers. The sacrifices are expected to sway voters to their advantage.

Whether it has worked for them is a story for another day, however, the fact remains that many politicians still believe that elections are won first on the supernatural field before the physical elections are conducted.

In a nation where resources are scarce and unequally distributed, the idea of appeasing unseen supernatural forces that will push the limited resources their way sounds appealing to many Nigeria. They believe that if they can tilt the pendulum of blessings in their direction, all the troubles and sorrows Nigeria brings will be quashed. Therefore, people like Omashola, Jaruma, and many religious charlatans will always be in businesses.

How can a nation become highly productive when the idea of ‘hammering’ without working is appealing to many? Wealth without work is one of the seven deadly sins accredited to Mahatma Gandhi Buying cars and houses, traveling to Dubai and exquisite locations, and living an ostentatious lifestyle are the dreams of many Nigerians.

Musicians, fraudsters, and Yahoo boys flaunt Rolls Royce, Limousines, lavishly furnished apartments with no legitimate source of income. All this madness has led politicians, their followers, young and old want to make it without working for it. Where is the honour in the dignity of labour?

The kind of trees we plant today will determine the kind of shade we will have tomorrow.
