*Former Governor of Oyo state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is would be buried on Sunday. His spokesman, Mr. Bolaji Tunji made this declaration in a statement. His burial would be in line with the COVID-19 protocols. This is according to his spokesman, Mr. Bolaji Tunji.

• Lanre Issa-Onilu, a former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said he supports the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). Issa-Onilu, in a statement on Friday, said he reflected on the events of the past few days, the outcome of the NEC meeting and that as a party man, he backs the actions taken by Mr. President.

* The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has claimed that at least 10 of his counterparts elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will soon defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bello stated this on Channels Television on Friday. When asked if APC wouldl collapse when President Muhammadu Buhari leaves power in 2023, Bello insisted that the ruling party will only get stronger.

• Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has mocked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for its “initial politicized and badly handled palliative measures”. He identified six areas Nigeria must give attention in order to recover from the COVID-19. He gave the suggestions on Friday in Abeokuta Club, Ogun State. Obasanjo told the government to urgently start the process of getting the economy back on track.

* Troops of Operation Thunder strike under the auspices of the ongoing Operation ACCORD, on Friday June 26, foiled an attempted kidnap of passengers along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway by armed bandits. This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche.

• The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said there will be a 100 per cent increase on passenger service charges on domestic and international flight tickets from August 1, 2020. FAAN’s Managing Director, Rabiu Yadudu, revealed this in a letter to airlines, with reference FAAN/HQ/MD/18E/VOL.86/72. According to Yadudu, the decision has been approved by the Ministry of Aviation.

* Justice John Tsoho, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court (FHC), has warned judges to stop granting ex-parte orders in political matters. Tsoho also told them not to entertain matters outside their judicial divisions. His directive was contained in circular titled: “Grant of Ex-parte Orders/Hearing of Cases from Outside Immediate Territorial Jurisdiction”. The CJ recalled the August 6, 2018 circular issued by his predecessor, Justice Abdul Kafarati, which contained a similar warning.

* The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday berated President Muhammadu Buhari for violating his oath of office by using the Federal Executive Council (FEC) Chambers and government resources to conduct the affairs of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). PDP said the action of Mr. President, in using public facilities and resources for APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting was the height of corruption as well as a desecration of the sanctity of the seat of power and national values. A statement by PDP’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan had said.

• Eight staffers of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. It was gathered that the affected staff consist medical doctors, nurses and an administrative staff. A two-year-old kid who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 in the hospital infected the staff. The management of Ogun FMC confirmed that the affected staffers were part of the team that had contact with the toddler, who is currently receiving treatment at its isolation ward.

* A new electricity tariff fixed by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is expected to take effect from July 1. This is contained in a statement issued by the govt agency in Abuja. The tariff review according to AEDC became necessary in view of radical changes in the macro-economic indicators such as inflation and foreign exchange. AEDC Managing Director, Mr Ernest Mupwaya explained that the tariff is predicated on the level of service available to customers in different areas, especially in terms of hours of availability of electricity supply to a specific geography within its franchise area.
