COVID-19: Bank Abruptly Shuts Over Suspected Case

A branch of a commercial bank in Osogbo, the state capital of Osun on Friday, July 3 reportedly dispersed customers after one of them suspected to have contracted COVID-19 was traced to the branch.

According to reports, the bank abruptly shut down this morning after COVID-19 officials traced a suspected case to the financial institution.

A customer of the bank, Jamiu Adetunji, who spoke with newsmen said one of the staff in the bank confessed to him that a customer who was a suspected carrier of the dreaded COVID-19 disease was traced to the bank.

“I was told by an official of the bank that a coronavirus case was discovered in the bank this morning. The official told me that they needed to fumigate the bank before any activity resume in the bank,” said Jamiu.

According to report, security personnel of the SMEs bank were seen sending back customers, claiming they have no network to operate. However, when a reporter confronted one of the officials, he confessed that a suspected COVID-19 case was traced to the bank.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC on Thursday, July 2 reported 626 new cases of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
