The presidency has suspended Ibrahim Magu as the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

It will be recalled Magu had been facing a presidential panel since Monday over allegations of corruption.

BBC Hausa quoted sources on Tuesday afternoon as confirming the suspension of the Acting EFCC Chairman from office.

Meanwhile, Following the invitation of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, by the Department of State Services (DSS), the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has asked the embattled chairman to step aside.

Recall that Anaedoonline.com today brought you news about Magu, following his alleged arrests by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS), over allegations that he owns four properties and that he was allegedly transferring funds abroad through a third party.

He was said to have been arrested at the Wuse II office of the DSS in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and was undergoing interrogation at the DSS Headquarters In Aso Drive.

However, rumours of his arrests was dismissed in a press release made available to newsmen by Peter Afunanya, the public relations officer of DSS.

Reacting in a statement shared on its official Twitter handle today, the PDP said the development confirms malfeasance in EFCC.

The party called for the stepping aside of the Anti-graft agency chairman, so as to hinder him from destroying evidence against him.
