Transfer: Osimhen Set To Become Most Expensive Nigerian Footballer

Lille striker, Victor Osimhen may emerge as the most expensive footballer in Nigeria as his deal with Napoli gets sealed soon.

It was gathered that since Victor landed in Italy, he has been in talks with the Serie A club. But the Nigerian footballer is yet to close that deal with Napoli which will earn him close to €2.5m per year.

Napoli is taking Victor who scored 18 goals for the Ligue 1 side his debut season for €60m from Lille.

Victor Osimhen will surpass Alex Iwobi who is the current most expensive Nigerian player as the deal is expected to end this week.

Anaedoonline.com reported that the Lille forward and his agent had spent few days in Italy locked in talks with the Italian club but it appears no deal was struck with reports saying the striker has headed back to France.

The 21-year-old Nigeria international is one of the most sought- after forward in Europe following an excellent debut campaign for French Ligue 1 club Lille.

It was earlier reported that despite Gennaro Gattuso’s desperation to land Osimhen, the player himself isn’t too keen on a move to Serie A and would prefer a switch to England instead

It remains to be seen if the former Wolfsburg’s striker will remain with the French Ligue 1 next season,with many clubs Hovering around him.

Osimhen, 21, scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 38 competitive games for Lille last season and was voted as the club’s player of the season and most recently picked up the prize as the best African player in the French Ligue 1 for the 2019/2020 Ligue 1 season.

Osimhen has been linked with several big clubs in Italy, Spain and England, but he could now be set to join the Naples outfit.

Lille manager, Christophe Galtier, this month admitted the Nigerian who scored 18 goals under him, will leave.

Calcio Napoli 1926 reports that the player and his agent flew in on Tuesday for contract talks. It is understood that the Italian club could use Adam Ounas as a makeweight in the transfer.
