Real Madrid are two games away from winning the LaLiga title, following a 2-0 victory over Alaves on Friday night.
Karim Benzema scored one and provided an assist for Marco Asensio, as Los Blancos went four points clear of Barcelona at the top of the table.
With three games left for Real, they need at least five points from two matches to be confirmed champions. Barcelona will be hoping to close the gap, when they travel to play Real Valladolid on Saturday night.
Real Madrid’s next three fixtures are against Granada, Villareal and Leganes. Zinedine Zidane’s men also hold a superior head-to-head advantage over Barca.
Zidane, has called for his side to improve their finishing. He praised his defence but said more creativity is required.
“Defensively, what we are doing, we are doing well. It is our strength. We defend all and when we lose the ball we recover it very high, and if we keep it we have a good chance of scoring.
The Frenchman then refused to be drawn on his side’s title chances, despite opening up a gap over rivals Barcelona.
“For us, nothing changes. We are happy with the victory, the work done having fought until the end, but nothing changes. There are 3 games left and we will continue fighting until the end.
“I don’t want to talk about being champions because there is still a lot left to play. It changes nothing to be leaders, they are three important points but nothing more. There are a 3 league games left and it will be difficult for all teams, including us,” Zidane added.
It will be recalled that Zinedine Zidane brake Jose Mourinho record in Real Madrid when he won his 88th game in LaLiga against Osasuna.
It takes him above Jose Mourinho, into third all-time for the most wins in the Spanish top flight as Madrid boss. Only Miguel Munoz and Vicente del Bosque have won more league games as manager at the Santiago Bernabeu.
