60 Year Old Man Arraigned In Court For Allegedly Defiling 11-Year-Old Girl

One Sunday Akpan, a 60-year-old gardener, was on Wednesday arraigned before a Chief Magistrate court in Lagos for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old fish hawker.

Akpan who was charged with defilement pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.

The prosecution counsel, ASP Nurudeen Thomas, while presenting the case told the court that the defendant committed the offense on July 15, at 10 a.m. at his residence in Bariga, Lagos.

He alleged that Akpan tricked the minor into following him home to collect money for the fish he bought.

According to him, the offense contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the Chief Magistrate P.E. Nwakpa while delivering his judgment admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Nwakpa adjourned the case until Aug. 17 for hearing.

In another story , a  23 year old man Uchenna Mbahotu has been arrested at Nkwo Orji Uratta in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State for defiling two sisters of 11 and 9 years old.

According to a statement released by the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, Mr. Mbahotu was arrested when the mother of the kids, Mrs. Blessing Akagha reported the case to the Divisional Police Headquarters Orji.

The release has it that Mrs. Akagha said that Uchenna Mbahotu who is their next-door neighbor, took advantage of the her daughters Chinemerem Akagha 11 year old and Nmesoma Akagha 9 year old, who were allowed to get close to him.

“However, medical examination conducted on both children, revealed that it was only Nmesoma Akagha (9 years) that was defiled”

“Meanwhile the investigation is at an advanced stage and he will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.” The release reads.
