After Signing Osimhen, Napoli Show Interest In Chukwueze

Samuel Chukwueze has become a summer target for top Serie A side Napoli, according to reports from Italy.

The Naples based side are currently chasing French midfielder Jeremie Boga who plies his trade for another Serie A side Sassuolo.

But if a move for the former Chelsea star does not pull through Villarreal man Chukwueze will be be the next option for the club.

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen recently joined the club for a record-breaking €81million which includes add-ons and a goalkeeper for the 21-year-old.

The Nigerian international striker joined the Serie A side on a big money deal, having been linked with several top European clubs this summer.

Napoli are looking to replace their long-serving Spanish attacker Jose Callejon whose contract would expire at the end of August.

The striker, who scored 18 goals in 38 appearances for the Ligue 1 side in the 2019-20 season, moves to Naples in a deal reported to be worth €50 million (£45m/$59m).

Osimhen had been linked with several top European clubs following his impressive goalscoring season, including Arsenal and Liverpool, although he will appear in Serie A in the 2020-21 campaign.

And According to Italian news media outlet Lebombedivlad, Napoli have identified Boga and Chukwueze as possible replacements for the former Real Madrid star Callejon.

The reports from Lebombedivlad read: “Napoli have not hidden their desire to sign Boga, who is being coveted by several Serie A teams.

“Atalanta has overtaken Napoli in the race to sign Boga, valued at €30m, but the Partenopei believe they can get Chukwueze for €25m if they don’t get Boga.”

Chukwueze was part and parcel of Villarreal’s return to the Europa League helping the Yellow Submarines finish in fifth position on the final La Liga standings.

The Nigerian international scored four goals and provided six assists for Villarreal in 41 matches at the just concluded 2019-20 season.
