Trump: Facebook Deletes Donald Trump’s Post, See Why

Facebook has deleted a post by Donald Trump for containing false claims about Covid-19.

The post featured a link of a video of an interview the President granted Fox News on Wednesday morning,August 5, in which the president claimed children are ‘virtually immune’ to the virus.

“This video includes false claims that a group of people is immune from Covid-19 which is a violation of our policies around harmful COVID misinformation,” Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone said in a statement Wednesday evening.

It was the first time Facebook took action to remove content posted by the president based on its Coronavirus-misinformation policy.

Courtney Parella, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, said in response to Facebook’s takedown that the President was “stating a fact that children are less susceptible to the coronavirus”

Later on Wednesday, Twitter said it had frozen Trump campaign account, @TeamTrump account because it posted the same interview excerpt, which was then shared from the President’s main account.

A Twitter spokesman said the @TeamTrump tweet “is in violation of the Twitter Rules on COVID-19 misinformation”.

“The account owner will be required to remove the Tweet before they can Tweet again.
