Popular Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, has been fined N200,000 by a Mobile Court in Abuja for violating coronavrus (COVD-19) protocols on June 13, 2020. The singer and his manager had on June 8 this year, travelled from Lagos to Abuja and back to Lagos for a drive-through concert in Abuja. Fashola pleaded guilty on Friday to a four-count charge filed against him by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for partaking in a music concert in Abuja in violation of COVID-19 directives.

 

The Anambra state House of Assembly has considered a report of the House Committee on Public Petitions on the petition titled, “Re-cancellation of extension and continuation of teachers’ service age of 60 to 65 years”. The report was read out thus by the committee Chairman on Public Petitions, and Member Representing Orumba North constituency, Hon. Emeka Aforka.

Governor Godwin Obaseki has commenced his campaign campaign ahead of Edo 2020 in Etsako East Local Government Area one of the councils in Adams Oshiomole’s zone. The former APC National Chairman is from Etsako West. While campaigning, he told the people that his government will continue to utilise the state’s resources to develop the state and improve the livelihood of the majority of Edo people.

 

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday, condemned police invasion of the Edo State House of Assembly on Friday, warning of possible constitutional chaos in the days ahead. Speaking under the auspices of the PDP Governors Forum, the governors warned of serious consequences even as it added that any attempt to manipulate the September 19 governorship election in the state would be legitimately resisted.

Following the US-China saga, executive order banning social media apps TikTok and WeChat from operating in the US in 45 days has been signed by President Donald Trump. Nigeria’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami has instructed the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed to provide security for the 17 newly sworn-in lawmakers in Edo State. The Minister’s directive follows a petition to his office by Idahosa-West Chambers over the recent political developments in Edo State. Malami noted in his directive to the Police boss in a letter dated August 5, 2020 that the step became necessary to avert a break down of law and order in the state.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi has revealed that the Ebonyi shopping mall is being constructed with the same magnificence and splendor as the famous Dubai mall in UAE. The governor made this known during the inspection of the site earlier in the week in Ebonyi state. Recall that the governor said the state will build the biggest shopping mall not just in the South-East but the whole of West –Africa in order to give Ebonyi state a new face lift.
