With an extensive injury list to contend with, Al Hain-Cole expects a tough Champions League match for the Blues against Flick’s high-flying side

Chelsea will be hoping to pull off a miraculous Champions League comeback when they travel to the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich.

Having lost four of their last six away matches in all competitions, they are 13/2 (7.50) outsiders with bet365 to at least reduce that deficit by pulling off a shock win.

Frank Lampard’s men went down 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg way back in February, a home deficit that no team has ever overcome in Champions League history.

However, Lampard, has defended the club’s behaviour in handling Willian’s contract situation.

There were reports on Friday, that the Brazilian winger was ‘upset’ about how his time at Stamford Bridge has ended.

After seven years with the Blues, Willian is set to join their London rivals Arsenal in a three-year deal.

Chelsea refused to hand the 31-year-old a contract with that length of time and the player is not impressed that his loyalty was not rewarded.

However, Lampard backed the club’s stance and admitted he doesn’t think Willian would feel that way about the situation.

“I read a headline that mentioned disappointment, it doesn’t matter. In terms of being disappointed, certainly as a club we’ve done everything we can to explain to Willian.

However, Die Roten have won 25 and lost none of their previous 26 fixtures, and are clear 4/11 (1.36) favourites to sail into the quarter-finals with another victory here.

The last meeting between this pair at this stadium saw the guests clinch a penalty shootout win in the 2012 Champions League final, and there are odds of 9/2 (5.50) available on them remaining all square after 90 minutes yet again.

Benjamin Pavard has been ruled out for Bayern while Niklas Sule is short of match fitness and Leroy Sane is cup-tied.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Christian Pulisic, Pedro, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour are all injured and N’Golo Kante is doubtful, with Marcos Alonso and Jorginho also unavailable due to suspension.

If the Blues’ chances of progression looked miniscule following the home defeat in February, they must be effectively non-existent now.

Having limped into the top four after three defeats in the final seven Premier League matches – as well as the FA Cup final – and lost a number of key players due to injury, the guests look in poor shape for such a huge challenge.

In contrast, Hansi Flick’s men have romped to the German double since the first leg, winning 14 games out of 14 – scoring 42 goals and conceding just nine.

All in all, odds of 10/11 (1.91) are not to be missed on the in-form Bayern winning by at least two clear goals against an understrength Chelsea.
