In Farawa Babban Layi, Mariri Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano state, a 30-year-old man identified as Ahmad Aliyu has been rescued by the police command.
Ahmad was said to have been locked up in a room by his father and stepmother for seven years.

His sad state got to the public through a video that went viral which prompted his rescue by the police. Aliyu looked emaciated and dehydrated in the viral video. He has spent days without food and water. He reportedly drank his own urine whenever he was tasty. A concerned neighbor alerted the police in Farawa and members of a non-governmental organization, Human Rights Network.
According to reports, Ahmad was “imprisoned” by his father and stepmother on the suspicion that he had started smoking and getting involved in drug consumption.
The police arrested his father and stepmom and rescued their victim.
