Residence of Architect John Emejulu, who demolished about one kilometre perimeter fence of Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu, has been pulled down by the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA. The private residence is situated along Eziokwe street, off Nike Lake road, Trans Ekulu, Enugu. At the site to supervise the demolition was the Chairman of ECTDA, Dr Josef Onoh, who told Vanguard that his agency obtained court order to demolish the duplex.

Nigeria’s confirmed cases of coronavirus reached 48,445 on Friday night following 329 fresh infections, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said in an update. Lagos recorded 113 of the 329 cases, followed by Kaduna with 39, FCT with 33 and Plateau 24. The rest are: “Kano-16, Edo-15, Ogun-14, Delta-13, Osun-10, Oyo-8, Ekiti-6, Bayelsa-6, Akwa Ibom-5, Borno-4, Enugu-4, Ebonyi-3, Rivers-2, Bauchi-1, Nasarawa-1, Gombe-1 and Niger-1”

After offloading premium motor spirit, to a filling station along Owerri/Onitsha express road, a tanker had exploded upon collision with a bus on 14 August. The incident which had occurred particularly at Irete, Owerri West local government area of Imo state, killed a woman and injured three persons while the rescue operation was still ongoing at the time. According to an eyewitness, he said that the incident happened as the tanker was navigating to make U-turn when a bus carrying pineapple collided with the tanker and it exploded. The passengers of the bus were the ones that were affected mostly including the woman.

 

An Igbo group, World Igbo People’s Assembly (WIPAS), has made known its intention to raise the sum of five hundred billion Naira towards the achievement of the 2023 Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction project. Spokesman of the group Chief Emeka Nwachukwu in a release said that it was long overdue for the Igbos to produce a president of Nigeria. Nwachukwu who stated that the project is cost-intensive, however, expressed hope that Ndigbo and Nigerians of good conscience all over the world would contribute to fund the project as they begin the consultation of Igbo leaders and Nigerians across the world.
