Kingpin Human Trafficker Arrested By Police

Abubakar Habibu, a kingpin human trafficker in Daura Local government area of Kastina state, has been arrested by the state Police Command.

The police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, said that the kingpin was arrested in Kastina on Saturday at a police checkpoint along Kongolom-Daura Road, Daura, on August 11.

The suspect has been on the wanted list for some time now, in connection with a case of human trafficking undergoing investigation, according to the spokesman.

He went further to narrate how the syndicate conveys their victims, Isah revealed that the do this on motorcycles, transporting them across the Nigerian border with the Niger Republic, for onward trafficking to Libya and Europe.

He stated that during the investigation the suspect confessed to committing the crime.

He disclosed that the command also arrested two other suspects, Abubakar Saidu and Jafaru Aminu, residents of Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State, who were in possession of 12 stolen cows.

Isah said that the two were arrested based on credible information received by the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB).
He revealed that they also confessed to having received the cows from bandits along Faskari-Birnin-Gwari axis, with the intention to sell them.

According to the command’s spokesman added that plans were underway to arrest other members of the syndicate.
