Warri Market Razed By Fire

A section of the popular Igbudu Market in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has been razed down by fire.

The section housing several stores at the Hausa Quarters end of the market was affected by the fire which was said to have started around 3 pm.

According to eyewitnesses, two buildings had been already flatten by the raging fire before the coming of the firefighters.
It was successfully put out by men of the Warri Fire Service, who later arrived at the scene to combat the inferno.

The cause of the fire remains a mystery as of the time of this report.

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Michael Tidi, was disturbed by the attitude of some youths from the Igbudu community, who threw pebbles at the truck of the Warri Fire Service, for allegedly not responding to the distress calls immediately.

The Council boss said, “This is not the first time we are hearing of this kind of attack from the community people. It is not right and it is something that is condemnable.

“I have told them that we are going to get the leaders of the community to replace the windscreen as well as the side mirror.

“The fire service is not the cause of the fire outbreak and any time they are called upon, they are available to respond.
