French giants Paris Saint-Germain have qualified for their first-ever Champions League following their 3-0 win over RB Leipzig.

Both sides came into the match full of confidence after securing a place in the semis with heroics in the one-legged quarter-final fixtures in Lisbon.

Marquinhos and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting netted late to rescue PSG from a resilient Atalanta side, with Leipzig, on the other hand, stunning favourites Atletico Madrid.

PSG made a couple of changes from the side that secured the Tuesday night, August 18, semi-final berth, with Angel Di Maria making a return to the fold as Mauro Icardi dropped to the bench.

Maria’s return went on to inspire the French giants to victory as the Argentinian netted his side’s second goal. Marquinhos broke the deadlock for PSG inside 13 minutes of gameplay, heading into the bottom corner from Di Maria’s deliciously curled delivery.

The restart saw PSG continue their dominance, with Juan Bernat putting the game beyond the Bundesliga side in the 55th minute, driving the ball into the back of the net from Di Maria’s near-post cross.

Neymar has been named the UEFA Champions League player of the week after helping his side to an epic comeback to beat Italian side Atalanta in the quarter-final.
