The National Association Of Universities Students (NAUS) in their large numbers protested over the closer of schools.
National president of NAUS, Ije Felix who lead the protest while speaking to newsmen expressed disappointment with the attitude of government.
According to Ije Felix ‘churches, international flirts and markets have been opened after the lockdown but the Federal Government have refuse to allow institutions to resume. almost one academic section have been lost, these is not acceptable, we are not happy.
‘We have been suffering these for a very long time and nobody have been saying anything about it. Alot of people have been hiding under the disguise of coronavirus, forgetting that our campuses have been shut even before the virus.
‘Our campuses have been shut for six month, there were alot of follow ups and immediately the pandemic started everybody relaxed. Coronavirus is not just in Nigeria, it was not created by us. we meet it and we will defeat it. we must not remain stagnant is not advisable.
‘We want the ministry of education to do the needful so that our schools will re-open. almost all the sectors in these country have been open. Government have forgetting that the most important sector in these country is education.
‘All our leaders were once students but because their students are schooling out-side the country, they are not concern about the Nigeria students. They are proud that our schools are locked down but they are busy attending convocations and matriculation’s outside Nigeria’ Ije Felix lamented
The students were seen holding placards with different inscriptions. chanting solidarity song and shouting ‘No school, no nation‘
