Ex-Kano Emir Sanusi Arrives Kaduna, Welcomed By El-Rufai

Barely five months after he was given a marching order as the Emir of Kano state, Muhammadu Sanusi II on Sunday, August 23, returned to the north.

The former emir arrived Kaduna state amid fanfare as a crowd of supporters joined his motorcade in euphoria as he headed to the Kaduna state government house.

The arrival of the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was announced by Governor Nasir El-Rufai on his Twitter page.

“Malam Nasir Elrufai has welcomed HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, and thanked him for making Kaduna the first place he is visiting since relocating to Lagos in March.

HRH Sanusi told Malam Nasir El-Rufai that he is grateful to have in him a friend he can always count on. He thanked the governor for standing by him and assured that he will do his best as Vice Chairman of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency is the One-Stop Investment (KADIPA) and Chancellor of the Kaduna State University, KASU,” the tweet read.

Sanusi was banished to Awe in Nasarawa state but his exile was overturned and deemed illegal by the court pronouncement.

The former CBN governor late returned to Lagos in the company of Governor El-Rufai, his long-time friend, who prior to the Lagos return named him as the chancellor of Kaduna State University.
Recall that Muhammadu Sanusi has gone back to school after the former monarch was offered a fellowship programme at Oxford University.

The development was announced by the varsity’s management committee of the African studies after the former emir’s request was granted.

Sanusi will resume in the centre in October for the 2020-2021 academic year and use the period to write a book based on his experience as a banker, public analyst, economy expert and former CBN governor.
