The 12 traditional rulers suspended by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state for paying a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari without the clearance of the state government, have begged for forgiveness.
The monarchs, who were led to the visit to the presidency by an oil mongul, and critic of the Obiano administration, Arthur Eze, said they have learnt their lessons, hence they ask Obiano to forgive and forget the incident that led to their suspension.
The visit and governors action however attracted several reactions, including the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, who backed the governor’s action
The group gave the apology, when they paid a visit to the Anambra House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Uche Okafor, at the weekend in Awka.
Anambra State government had through the office of the Commissioner for Chieftaincy matters, Greg Obi, suspended the monarchs for visiting President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja without permission.
Traditional ruler of Ifitedunu, Igwe Emeka Ilouno, who spoke on behalf of the 12, said they had no intentions to fight the Governor.
He noted that Obiano was “God sent to Ndi Anambra,” adding that administration has brought about total turn around to the state.

Ilouno, who maintained that Governor Obiano has remained their close ally, regretted that what happened between them and the Governor was taken out of its scope by some sycophants to score cheap goals
One of the suspended monarchs, Igwe Peter Uyanwa of Ukwulu, Dunukofia, reminded the Governor that he was a papal Knight of St Gregory the Great, adding that he should use the flow of anointing bestowed on him by Pope Francis to forgive them.
In his response, the Speaker noted that their visit had shown their love for the peace of the state, describing the move as a step in the right direction.
He assured he would bring the matter before Obiano, who he described as soft and kind hearted man.
