The Chief Executive Officer, Innoson Kiara Academy Mr Endi Ezengwa has chosen to celebrate his birthday with students at the academy. Tuesday 1st September remains a special day for Mr. Ezengwa and family as it marks the end of a chapter and the commencement of another.
As a development expert, a career building professional, a tutor, a father and a loving husband he has built a rock solid career in the last decades, year after year dishing out innovations that would be of benefit to the society in general, especially the youth.Over the years, it has become customary for Mr. Ezengwa to celebrate his birthday with his staff at his different ventures. This is because he has always been a stern believer of harmony and professional relationship at the place of work. This year, he chose to celebrate with staff and students of Innoson Kiara Academy- his brainchild established in 2015.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, he recalled the events that led to the birth of the academy with much relish. “ The academy was built on the principle of work based learning. It came as a result of a job we did for the Anambra state government during which students were brought to the Innoson auto repair factory for training. I saw the opportunity and relayed it to the Chairman”.“It is one of the few training facilities that is situated inside a vehicle manufacturing factory”.
The series of events on that day commenced with a cross section of students, staff and distinguished guests at the Kiara hall, where they were admonished by Mr. Alfred Nwosu the director of Industrial Relations to take their stay at the Academy seriously, put their thinking cap and create ways to make money even while in the academy. The CEO took time to address the students, reminding them the resources poured into the academy for their benefit, recounting that the management’s joy would be full if they eventually commence a career from the skill sets they learnt at the academy and further become successful at it.
He encouraged the students, one from each unit to come up to the podium to talk about their stay at the academy. From each unit, a representative spoke about their stay with excitement and pride.Remarkable was the speech of Miss Ekwulugwo Gloria Oluchukwu, from the department of Auto Fabrication and Welding unit, who studied Marine Engineering at the tertiary institution before coming to the academy. In her speech she stated that her gender does not pose a challenge to her stay at the academy which is 90% male and 10% female. She said she feels motivated to do more when she is in the company of men.
As a Marine Engineer, and a welding student at the Innoson Kiara Academy, she compared her learning experience at both institutions drawing conclusions that the Academy provided a hands-on practical approach as against the tertiary institution that was highly theoretical.
Impressed by Miss Ekwulugwo’s presentation, Mr. Endi Ezengwa pledged to consider Miss Gloria for employment after the six months training program. In addition, the CEO directed the training manager of the Academy Mr Ifeanyi Joseph Okeke to get two best graduating trainees from each department for immediate employment after the training and assured those who want to start-up their own business of his entrepreneurship mentoring, as well as access to loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
As a proud father, watching his children grow everyday, the CEO beamed with smiles, promising the students of his continued support, guidance and assistance as they go ahead to become the best versions of themselves. The staff of the academy joined the CEO at the private hall for toasts and cutting of the birthday cake amidst celebrations.
