In news that went viral, the Department of State Services DSS and the Lagos State Police Command has come out to deny reports of inviting some celebrities for questioning.

 

Late hours of yesterday, some media outlets reported that Don Jazzy, Waje, Yemi Alade, and others were invited to the DSS office in Lagos state as well as the state police command where they were allegedly warned to be mindful of the kind of posts they make on social media, some of which are perceived to be against the Buhari-led government.

 

The report claimed that they were later summoned alongside singers Yemi Alade and Waje by Zubairu Muazu who is said to be the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

In an interview with Punch, the DSS spokesman, Peter Afunnaya, denied the report saying “We didn’t invite any musician.”

 

Bala Elkana, the spokesperson of the state police command, also denied claims the command invited Yemi Alade and Waje. Elkana said that Zubairu Muazu, who was said to have invited the singers, “ceased being CP more than 10 months ago.”

 

“The present CP is Hakeem Odumosu, who came in November last year. Zubairu Muazu has even retired from service; he retired as an AIG.”

When questioned by reporters, Elkana said, “I’m not aware of any invitation.”

Earlier Anaedoonline reported about A storm of reactions by Nigerians that has greeted the purported invitation of Michael Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage by the Department of State Service (DSS).

Anaedoonline.ng understands that a report filed by SaharaReporters had said the DSS reportedly invited Nigerian music producer and his former signee Tiwatope Savage, also known as Tiwa Savage, for questioning over alleged political comments against President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

The report said following the increase in rape cases in Nigeria, Tiwa Savage began a movement known as “WeAreTired” in protest of the situation. The musician through the movement called on the current government to take action to stem the tide of rape in the country.

According to the report, the call by Tiwa Savage for the Buhari’s administration to live up to its responsibilities to Nigerians earned the singer an invitation by the DSS. Together with Don Jazzy, Savage was invited to the DSS office in Lagos two weeks ago during which they were warned to be careful with their posts on the social media.

Reacting to the development in a short video published on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, Don Jazzy asked what the word “quizzes” was as applied in the report published by SaharaReporters.
