2020 Synod: Nnewi Anglican Bishop Expresses Preparedness, Set To Unveil Master Plan

Ahead of tomorrow’s commencement of 1st Session of the 9th Synod of Anglican Diocese of Nnewi, the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi has expressed satisfaction over the level of preparation towards a successful synod at Cathedral Church of St. Mary’s Uruagu, Nnewi.

Speaking to journalists, today, Tuesday, 8th September 2020, during the synod press conference at the Bishop’s court, the Bishop who was optimistic of a successful synod, noted that he will use the synod which is the highest meeting of the church to unfold his plans for the Diocese.

With the theme, “You shall be my witness” Bishop Ndubuisi said that theme was borne out of the burden on the need for serious evangelism in Igboland and Nnewi in particular, noting that there is need for strategic person-to-person witnessing.

According to the Bishop, he will be reading his Presidential address in Igbo Language on Friday, making him the first Bishop to toe that line.

He also revealed that all the communities in Nnewi Diocese have been mobilized to be part of the synod, adding that the Diocese will launch a website site that will bridge the communication between the Diocese and her abroad members.

Speaking further, the Bishop said that the Diocese has made arrangement to ensure the observance of Covid-19 protocols, saying that Billionaire Businessman, Chief Dr Arthur Eze (Ozoigbondu) and the Chief Executive Officer of Oil Serve, Engr. Sir Emeka Okwuosa (Oil Serve) are already helping in the financing of procurement of different COVID-19 preventive materials and equipment.

The Bishop also assured that all relevant security agencies have been contacted, to ensure maximum security during the synod.

Nnewi Anglican Bishop Set For His Last Synod

On his own part, the Archdeacon of Diocesan Church Center, St. Andrews Anglican Church, Nkwo Nnewi, Ven. Okechukwu Christian Emeribe (JP) said that the support of both the general public especially in Diocese of Nnewi is needed for the actualization of the mission and vision of the Diocese and the Bishop, adding that the Bishop has a lot of plans which will aid in the development of the Diocese.

Speaking also, the Synod Secretary, Rev. Canon Dr Godfrey Mortanya, said that in other to lift the burden of much financial responsibility on the host community, the Diocese decided to adopt the Pay As You Eat and making the synod bags free.

Rev. Chibuzor Odunukwe also added that the synod will afford the Bishop with the opportunity of Commissioning the Cathedral By-Pass which was built by the Diocese under the administration of Bishop Ndubuisi Obi.

The 2020 Synod of Nnewi Diocese will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, 9th September and ends on Sunday, 13th September 2020.
