SA Nzekwe Inaugurates Taskforce On Public Safety

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Safety, Hon Ugochukwu Nzekwe on Wednesday, September 9,2020 constituted a six member safety operation committee that will be responsible for monitoring and surveillance of the conduct and activities of members of the public with a view to ensuring the comprehensive safety of lives and property of Imo indigenes and residents.

The taskforce is charged with the responsibility of monitoring, investigating and ensuring that violators are brought to book in accordance with relevant laws, especially as it concerns transportation and storing of petroleum products and other inflammable substances.

The committee comprising Comr Chibuzor Iheme as Chairman;Atuogu Dennis C, Vice Chairman;Liberty Edo, Secretary;Emmanuel Chibuzor Amaechi, Head of Operation; Nnanyerugo Prosper Ihejirika, member; Chigozie Enyinnaya, member also has the mandate to ensure that all necessary safety measures relating to the health of members of the public are strictly adhered to in accordance with laid down rules, regulations and laws that apply in all business environments and health related institutions.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Hon Nzekwe urged members of the committee to be law abiding and avoid actions that will portray the government in bad light.

He advised them to avoid being seen as people who are creating problems while claiming to be proffering solutions.

The public safety boss who enjoined members of the committee to discharge their duties diligently and conscetiously, expressed confidence in the ability and caliber of personalities that make up the committee and advised them to work in synergy with other security agents and relevant agencies towards ensuring safety of lives and property in the State.

In his response, the chairman of the committee who spoke onbehalf of the taskforce committee, Chibuzor Iheme thanked the SA for availing them the opportunity to serve the state in that capacity and assured him that the committee will adhere strictly to the safety guidelines and enabling laws.
