The former Imo State governor and current Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Rochas Okorocha, has revealed the reason the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost the governorship election in Edo State to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Okorocha, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress, described the loss suffered by the party as a “revolution of the masses against injustice”.

The former governor congratulated the people of Edo State for fighting against alleged injustice in the just-concluded election won by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, ahead of his 58th birthday on Tuesday, Okorocha noted that “there is no more APC, what we have is the respect for President Muhammadu Buhari”.

He said “When I saw Adams Oshiomole with Hope Uzodimma Leading the APC campaign I knew there will be no victory for APC.

Okorocha insisted that some politicians have taken advantage of President Buhari’s honesty and patriotism to perpetuate unprovoked chaos and confusion in the party by neglecting the founding fathers of the APC stressing that he had forewarned of the catastrophe that might plaque the party urging Mr President to step-in to avert the total collapse of the APC.

He said; ”It is not only PDP members that voted for Obaseki even APC members also voted for him.

Edo people did not vote for APC or PDP, they voted against injustice. Edo people are not docile. They voted for justice to be done in Edo state”, Okorocha said.

During the event, Okorocha’s in-law and 2019 former governorship candidate in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, blamed the former National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, for the party’s defeat, saying “all he did was to try to muzzle people to accept a candidate they never wanted”.

“This is not what APC was built on, we expect things to be done the right way but the former chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, believes that anything can come from anywhere without going through the due process,” he said.
