Danielson Akpan has been removed as the president of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for allegedly diverting the Covid-19 palliatives, Akpan was given a marching order on Tuesday, October 13, after a student Senate meeting which was held via video conferencing.

The now impeached NANS president assumed office in July 2018, with his impeachment coming more than two years after he took the mantle of leadership at the national level.

According to records, prior to Akpan’s impeachment, stakeholders and concerned officials of the student body have been complaining about his prolonged tenure.

Although the amount of money was not disclosed, the impeached president was said to have received huge sums of money from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and top government bodies as students’ Covid-19 palliatives.

Akpan was also found guilty of misappropriation of funds and alleged concealing of information relevant to help the growth of the body.
