There have been allegations and unconfirmed claims that soldiers and hoodlums and security forces are being sponsored by politicians to attack EndSARS protesters, especially in Lagos.

In fact, there is a war of words between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in this regard.

The PDP, through its national spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to take responsibility for the shooting of peaceful protesters in the Lekki part of Lagos on Tuesday, October 20, This Day reports.

The main opposition said that a swift and well-planned reaction from President Buhari as the head of armed forces and the father of the nation would have calmed frayed nerves and “averted the crisis, violence, deaths, destruction of property and the avoidable loses we are witnessing today.”

However, in response to this position, the APC in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, asserted that the PDP, as always, is politicising the whole issue by making unverified claims to further fuel the already heated crisis.

Nabena said that while the ruling party will not take issues with the PDP on the turn of events related to the protests, it has to set the record straight by noting that some PDP bigwigs are actually behind the violence in some parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the minister of defence, Bashir Magashi, had warned Nigerian youths not to breach the nation’s security in the prolonged EndSARS protest despite making their agitations clearly known to the federal government.
