Romelu Lukaku has been left out of Inter Milan’s Champions League squad that will face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, November 3.

The 27-year-old was said to have suffered a thigh injury late last month and will not be expected back until a few days’ time.

He last featured for the Serie A outfit in their goalless draw against Shakhtar Donetsk and was missing in their 2-2 draw against Parma last weekend.

Antonio Conte will, however, miss the services of his top star who has scored seven goals in seven appearances across competitions so far this campaign.

Although he still has the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez available for selection, the former Barcelona winger might be starting from the bench having played no part in their last three outings.

This news will, however, sound pleasant to Zinedine Zidane as they prepare to host the Italian giants but he also has a player ruled out for the meeting.

BBC Sport reports that Eder Militao tested positive for the ravaging coronavirus and has been automatically excluded from the Los Blancos team.

The 22-year-old is expected to be in isolation for the scheduled period by the government before taking another test to confirm his recovery status.

Zidane will also miss the services of Nacho, Dani Carvajal and young playmaker Martin Odegaard through injury.

The most successful team in the history of the competition sits at the base of Group B with just one point after two games following their poor start to their European campaign this term.

They kicked off their campaign to a losing note after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk at the Bernabeu and they managed a 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.

Los Blancos will now be aiming for their first victory this season to revive their chances of making through to the next round of the competition.

And they will be counting on the form that helped them hammer Huesca 4-1 at the same venue for tonight’s encounter.

Inter are third in Group B with two points from two games. Lukaku earned one of the points with both goals in a 2-2 draw with Monchengladbach.

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has denied he fears for his future at the club if his team fails to beat Inter Milan in their must-win Champions League clash on Tuesday.

Madrid are bottom of Group B with only one point, after losing 3-2 to Shakhtar Donetsk and drawing 2-2 with Borussia Monchengladbach in their first two fixtures.

“No, I don’t think about that. I think positive. I think about tomorrow’s game.

“We’re lucky to play in the Champions League tomorrow. That’s all we’ll focus on. The rest is inevitable, but all we can do is prepare well and give everything,” Zidane replied, when asked if his job is on the line in a pre-match news conference on Tuesday.

Real Madrid on Monday confirmed Eder Militao has tested positive for COVID-19, ahead of their Champions League tie with Inter Milan.

The 22-year-old, who has featured regularly under Zinedine Zidane this season will now undergo a mandatory period of self-isolation.

The club, however, said no other positive results were recorded from the latest round of testing.

“All the other players and the technical staff from the first team, as well as all the employees of the club who work directly with them, tested negative in that same test,” the statement read.

Militao joined the LaLiga club from Porto for £43 million last year.
