Diego Maradona’s death has thrown the entire football world into mourning as the legend was reported dead on Wednesday, November 25.
The 1986 FIFA World Cup winner recently left the hospital after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain.
He however passed away about 13 days after he was discharged from the hospital when his operation was successful.
His death has not only left his family bereaved, some other people who had a personal relationship with him are also shaken by his death.
And Barcelona captain Lionel Messi is one of those heavily affected by the demise of the 60-year-old after condoling with the family of the icon on his official Instagram page.
The 33-year-old forward said in his post that the memory of the former Argentina captain will live with them forever. “A very sad day for all Argentines and for football.
He leaves us but does not leave, because Diego is eternal. I keep all the beautiful moments lived with him and I wanted to take the opportunity to send my condolences to all his family and friends. RIP.”
Also, five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has also paid tribute to the legend saying he lost a friend, adding that his legacy would never be forgotten.
“Today I say goodbye to a friend and the world says goodbye to an eternal genius. One of the best ever. An unparalleled magician. He leaves too soon but leaves a legacy without limits and a void that will never be filled. Rest in peace, ace. You will never be forgotten.”
Maradona led La Albiceleste to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa where they crashed out at the quarterfinal star after losing 4-0 to Germany in cape Town.
He featured at the global football showpiece four times – 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1994 but only lifted the title once in his career.
The late Argentine spent time at Barcelona, Napoli and Sevilla having started his career in his home country in 1976.
