Police in Lagos on Tuesday deployed 1,250 special constabulary officers for community policing to boost security in different parts of the state. Community policing is an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu to complement the efforts of the police to effectively combat crime and criminal activities.

 

The Chairman of the Lagos Judicial Panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi, on Tuesday, announced that the Lagos State Government has contracted forensic experts to unknot the puzzle behind the alleged killings of peaceful EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll plaza on October 20, 2020.

A total of 731 out of 35,419 Batch B members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have tested positive for COVID-19. The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on the Coronavirus Pandemic and Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, revealed this during the regular media briefing in Abuja, on Tuesday.

 

Authorities of the University of Ibadan, on Tuesday, cleared Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State of alleged forgery of degree certificate brought against him by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and one of its chieftains, Williams Edobor. The degree certificate was confirmed to have been issued Obaseki by the University in 1979 after his formal graduation.

 

Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) said, on Tuesday, that President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, will as from January 10, 2021, serve as its national coordinator. SMBLF made this known in a statement jointly signed by its chairman, Chief Edwin Clark; Chief Ayo Adebanjo for South-West, and Dr Pogu Bitrus (Middle-Belt)

Nine militant groups, under the aegis of the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA), have backed out of the ongoing peace talk with the Federal Government on the non-violent approach to issues of the continuous operations of oil and gas facilities. The RNDA in an electronic statement on Tuesday by its Coordinator, ‘Major General’ John Mark Ezonbi, also warned foreign oil vessels to steer clear of the Niger Delta region or face dire consequences.
